How Banner is Giving Something Back

It’s common in the business world for many companies and organizations to include charity work and fundraising as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility aims and objectives. One of these companies is office supplies reseller Banner, whose employees have taken part in numerous charity events and initiatives to give something back to the wider community. Here are some of their most recent activities.

The Pink Ribbon Foundation – Candy Pink Office Products

In a joint charity partnership between Rapesco Office Products and Banner, both companies are helping to raise funds towards The Pink Ribbon Foundation. Known as a grant making trust helping to further financially support UK cancer charities, the Pink Ribbon Foundation is vital in the research and discovery of cancer detection and treatment. To help raise awareness and funds towards this important cause, Rapesco’s range of ‘Candy Pink’ office products are available from Banner, with the money from each product sold being donated to The Pink Ribbon Foundation throughout 2018.

Yorkshire Air Ambulance – Tough Mudder Challenge

Recently, several members from Banner’s Public Sector team agreed to take part in the Tough Mudder challenge. The money raised went towards the efforts of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, a charity which often relies on generous donations from the public and from local organizations to operate and save many lives across the region. According to the charity themselves, running the air ambulance costs almost £12,000 per day and £4.4 million a year, making it a costly but essential emergency service available to the public. By participating in the Tough Mudder event, the team from Banner raised £1,095, with the team planning on participating in further events to help raise more money towards this worthwhile cause in the future.

Prospect Hospice – The Starlight Walk

Whilst many of Banner’s charity fundraising is done by teams or large groups, there are also individual efforts to be highlighted too. Tonia Meader, Furniture Coordinator at Banner, helped mark 10 years of Prospect Hospice’s Starlight Walk by embarking on a 10km night walk. Raising over £130 for Prospect Hospice, the money raised by Tonia supports the efforts of the healthcare charity and the overall costs for the service to continue supporting patients, carers and family members through difficult times in life. Project Hospice is the chosen charity for Banner’s Swindon and Basingstoke offices, and is a foundation that supports more than 300,000 members of the public across the Swindon, Marlborough, north Wiltshire and Gloucestershire areas. Receiving less than 30% of income from statutory organizations like the NHS and other health services, money raised by Banner and its employees will continue to help support the service.

COPS (Care of Police Survivors) – Wing Walk Challenge

As of current, Eric Mountain, CCS National Account Manager at Banner, has raised £1,650 towards the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and another chosen charity. The other chosen charity was COPS, a UK based foundation dedicated to help support the families of police officers who have lost their lives during duty. Founded in 2003, COPS aim to ensure that the families and friends of deceased officers in the force have the help and resources required to cope with such tragedies and can continue to feel part of the wider police family. Stepping up to the exciting yet terrifying challenge, Eric helped to raise funds towards COPS by walking the wings of an aeroplane. With the plane travelling at speeds of up to 150mph, the risk was certainly worth the reward of knowing that money raised from sponsorships and donations would go directly into supporting the working efforts of the COPS charity.
